I feel like Shit! Newsflash: It’s okay to have bad days

In the world of self love and living an inspired authentic life, it is important to be honest and the truth is there are days when all the self-help books, motivational speeches, Ted talks, and ice cream in the world can’t cure you of those days when you wake up and simply feel like shit!

Like the common cold of the soul, you are better off accepting those days when they take hold of you, and battle on through to the other side.

It’s okay to wake up on the wrong side of the bed, snooze your alarm, and drift away into dreamland again. Sometimes you’ll just need a few more hours in bed. Sometimes you won’t feel ready to face the world just yet.

It’s okay to be writing in your gratitude journal and can’t think of 5 things to be grateful for, even though deep down inside you know you’re incredibly lucky to be writing this damn chore of a list.

It’s okay to stare at your laptop or get distracted by your phone pinging when you’re supposed to be working on your J.O.B. or your dreams because you’re not perfect.

It’s okay if you don’t feel like smiling today. You don’t have to paint or plaster on a fake one to please your parents, your partner, or that guy who serves you your chai latte each morning.

I want you to know it’s okay to feel like shit sometimes. Breaking habits that don’t serve your best self, can take a little longer when your willpower feels like it fell into the toilet.

It’s okay to allow that grey cloud above your head today and wallow beneath your private, silent storm. Because without the rain, you cannot have the rainbow. Just know that the sun hasn’t forever abandoned you; she’s closer than you think she is.

I need you to know it’s okay to be not okay, all the time. Bad days will find their way to all of us. But trust me, those grey skies will eventually part for brilliant blue ones and this weight pulling you down, will be lifted!

Better days are patiently waiting for you on the not-so-distant horizon.

Whether you’re depressed, or sick, or feeling like shit for reasons unknown, it’s important to take care of yourself. Block out a little bit of time, maybe a few times a day to do something that makes you feel better. Play with your pet, call a friend, take a cool shower and imagine your playing in the rain on a paradise island.
